As we approach the Memorial Day Weekend, the next 3 weeks are the busiest 20 days of the year at Hillcrest Farms! Wintered Crops are finished, early Spring Crops are winding down, and the first hints of Summer are teasing our harvest crew. All infrastructure repairs and improvements will not resume until mid June as we move our transplants from the nursery to the field and greenhouses.
Very tender annuals like Zucchini, Bush Beans, and Cucumbers will move out, although not without some cool weather protection, and the remaining Tomatoes and Peppers will be the last to go, while Baby Lettuce, Romaine, Spinach and Onions are next! Make sure to get your garden plant orders in soon! You may specify delivery now through June 8.
This week I am at the Family Fare parking lot in Eaton Rapids on Wednesday, at 12:00 noon. Thursday afternoon is Farm pick up, and Saturday I am in the parking lot behind Flour Child Bakery, 11:00-12:00 noon. Scheduled home deliveries are Saturday afternoon. Note the outdoor Farmer Market Outdoor starting dates: Allen Street, May 15, Grand Ledge on River Street on Saturday June 1, and East Lansing on Sunday June 2. I'll keep you posted!
