Although the Calendar Summer doesn't start until next week, the area communities are buzzing with activity in preparation for a season to make up for the loss of time and Covid. We are buzzing here at Hillcrest Farms as well !
First up we'll transplant Ginger and Turmeric from the nursery into one of the high tunnels. If the weather cooperates, we'll weed the potato beds and Cauliflower, and prepare a 3 bed area for sowing carrots for fresh eating and cold weather storage!
Should the weather turn on us, we'll move back indoors for work on Eggplant and more Peppers. I hope to transplant Rutabaga and Celeriac this week in order to make way for seeding flats of Spinach for everyone to enjoy this fall!
This week I am at the Family Fare parking lot in Eaton Rapids on Wednesday at 12:00noon, and the Allen Street Farmers Market after that, 3:00-6:00.Thursday afternoon is farm pick up, and Saturday we are in Grand Ledge For the Farmers Market on River Street, 9:00-1:00. Also remember that we participate in the East Lansing Farmers Market on Sunday, 10:00-2:00 in the Valley Square. I hope to see you there!
