When my son Simon was a young lad in knee shorts, many years ago, I wished him a happy flag day on June 14th. He was very excited, because geography- especially different countries-had (and still is) always been of great interest to him, and it didn't occur to me to explain to him what the meaning of Flag Day, as it is celebrated in the United States, means. He then proceeded to draw, in minute detail, a dozen or so flags of the world in miniature which he glued to a piece of paper and proudly presented to me. It was one of my favorite gifts ever, resembling somewhat the image above. Which one is your favorite? I'm partial to the one in the upper left corner.

New this week: snap peas, zucchini and cucumbers. Snap peas are the ones with the edible pods. The mini onions which garner such enthusiasm among onion lovers this time of year are a week late, as is the cabbage. Beets are maybe two weeks out.
and now for some farm pictures...
we had some friends visit and their dear children took the goat kids out for an adventure walk.
and here is the latest pea harvest. It's a lot for one person to pick. Luckily we had three people doing it.
