This is one of my favorite paintings-- not that I've ever seen it in person-- "The Mulberry tree" by Vincent van Gogh. One art history book I read, while discussing this painting, hypothesized that perhaps V.van Gogh has suffering from delerium tremens at the time, and that the tree really looked this way to him. That seems silly to me. If he had the dt's that bad, how could he have even held a brush, much less produced a painting of this caliber. What do you think?
Here's a picture- not a painting- of an actual mulberry tree, also one of my favorites. Except the dear software can't get it to upload. You'll have to take my word for it there there is indeed a magnificent mulberry tree about 30 yards from my barn. What does "trying to access array offset on value of type bool" even mean? Anyways, I love eating the purple/ black berries, which ripen slowly over a period of weeks (just don't examine them too closely). Oddly enough, this year the birds have eaten almost all of them before I can get to them. Are they unusually hungry? Are there more birds? It's puzzles like this that occupy my mind when I'm on the tractor or doing fieldwork and why, despite aspects of my job becoming routine, I am rarely bored.
Here's another surprise:
I hooked up the field cultivator, which I hadn't used in a while, and when I looked behind, there was a bird's nest in it! I am pleased to say I drove so carefully that the nest and all the eggs survived the cultivation, and after an hour's work, the momma bird was able to return and continue brooding.
