Welcome to the Penultimate CSA share of the season! Week 26?! This may be your last share if you are an every other week member.
So sorry for the delay, its been a big day at the farm! We spent most of Monday without power as we finally got permanent power at the farm! This event has been 4 years in the making, so we are excited! We are stoked to use our new, more efficient walk in cooler, turn on lights in the barn so we don't have to work by headlamp in the evenings and finally being able to do stuff like weld at this property.
Please look for an end of season survey and keep an eye out for when sign ups open up next season! I am already knee deep in spreadsheets and seed orders for next year to try to get ahead of any supply shortages for next year. Another note, I will be set up at The Fiber Gallery in Seattle this Saturday (11-3) with our whole naturally dyed yarn line. Come out if you need some yarn in your life or for gifting!
Veg this week:
Romanesco Cauliflower- These got planted a bit late, so here we are being able to enjoy them in December! Green fractuals, anyone? Limited amount available.
Koginut Squash- This is like an advanced butternut! These are a long season squash (110 days to maturity) and take a long time to cure up in storage. Easy to cut type of shape too!
Cabbage- Perhaps I have already mentioned that it is my favorite vegetable? We have green savoy and some of these very beautiful Verza Moretta di Veronella, a true heirloom variety from Northern Italy that has been stewarded for many generations and even has its own festival in its home village of Veronella.
