Farm Happenings for June 2, 2022

Posted on May 29th, 2022 by Emily Tzeng

Welcome to Week One of our 2022 CSA season! We are so glad that you are here and interested in eating seasonally while supporting a small farm.

If this is your first time being a CSA member, we will be sharing various tips throughout the first month to help you maximize our veggie enjoyment. If you have been a CSA member before (either of our farm or other farms) please send me your favorite CSA tips!

My number one tip:

Purchase a salad spinner! It's definitely Greens season and a salad spinner will make cleaning and prepping your leafy greens much easier. While we do wash all of our veggies, it is definitely advisable for you to wash your veggies to make sure it is dirt free prior to cooking or eating. Cleaning your greens before putting them away in your fridge will also make enjoying them much quicker and often decreased the amount of space needed for storage.

Meanwhile, on the farm:

After such a wet and chilly spring, we have been hustling to get plants in the ground this past week! The temps look to be warm this upcoming week, so hopefully, everything will really start to grow. Fingers crossed, we will be eating tomatoes and cucumbers in no time. Not going to lie, this spring has been a real nail biter for us farmers, but I am hopeful that the soil is finally warming up.
