Happy October! Here at the farm, we are continually amazed at how time passes during a farm season. June, and the start of our summer CSA, seems like light-years ago. While some days often tick by slowly, with monotonous weeding or cleaning out the mobile chicken coops, the growing season always seems to happen in a flash.
Every season comes with new successes and new challenges, but one of our biggest triumphs this season has been with our incredible intern crew! Our interns' passion, dedication and hard-work are the reasons we can bring you a CSA box every week.
As we look to the end of the year and our winter meat CSA, we felt now was a perfect time to introduce you to our livestock intern, Luca Grifo-Hahn. This season, Luca has stepped up to the plate in more ways than one and we are incredibly lucky to have him care for the numerous animals here at Spoon Full. Luca reflects on his internship:
"My favorite part of my internship here at Spoon Full has been getting to spend time with our herd of cattle. It has been an absolute pleasure learning to identify and develop a relationship with the individual cows, which is something that I think Spoon Full Farm is incredibly unique in. Here, we don’t look at our cows as one large herd, but rather we approach each of the critters as individuals with diverse needs and wants.”
Check out our signup for the winter meat CSA (https://www.spoonfullfarm.com/winter-csa), and know raising animals for us is much more than the end product. It is about these relationships between a farmer and their herd, as well as our herd and the land that supports them.
With love,
Your Spoon Full Farmers
