I entered our local farm store this week looking rather down as the weather was calling for 5 straight days of rain. The owner kindly asked- "how's it Going" I think he knew the answer to that question. I told him- Harold- I've never been so close to quitting as I am right now. This is miserable. Everything's going wrong. He asked- what would we do if all the farmers quit.
Well- as we all know- there is an abundance of good produce at the supermarket- and at times there is even a good selection of certified organic produce. So its unlikely that all the farmers will quit. However, smaller farmers that are in your local communities working tirelessly to farm in a way that contributes to the local population are always on a steady decline that reaches very close to non existent.
So what's wrong with supporting larger scale farming from all over the world? It produces great selection at a cheap price that I myself find very convenient! Why do you choose to support a small time farmer like myself? That's not the real question- Its much bigger than that. Its much bigger than me.
Thank you for allowing me to be your farmer. We're far from perfect and I thank you for your patience as we work tirelessly to provide you with products that were proud of. And if you should get something that you're not happy with, please let us know and we'll work to make you happy.
Sincere thanks
Ford
