While we thankfully didn't get buried in snow after this weekend's winter weather blast, the cold and wind has finished off the more tender of the our remaining field crops. Only the hardiest vegetables (collards, kale, leek, parsnips, spinach) survive unprotected. Fortunately though we have lots stored away for the colder months ahead. We're also excited this week for the first cut of baby spinach from one of our unheated winter tunnels. It looks amazing and tastes even better!
We say farewell this week to two amazing members of our team this year: Jorge and Marcelino. While we will definitely miss them, we're very happy for their reunion with their families in Mexico and look forward to their return next year.
Head's up that Seth is taking a week off from baking for us this week, but his bread will be back next week.
Reminder that Old East Village is having a Holiday season kickoff with lights and other events. At our market stand at the Western Fair District we will be having a night market this Friday night from 4 to 8 pm so if you are in the neighbourhood stop by and say hi to Julian who will be running our stand!
