We always watch the weather around mid March for that last hard freeze possibility, but I honestly didn't think we would see 28 degree's on the first day of Spring! Luckily we held back our tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, and more squash because we would not have been able to cover everything. We did cover the squash & cucs we have planted that were looking great, cross your fingers on those, I am hoping they wil be fine but we won't know for a few days. It looks like the forecast is going to cooperate with us now so we will be planting out all of the 8,000 plants we had to put indoors to protect.

About the farm
Covey Rise Farms is located in Husser, LA just north of New Orleans in central Tangipahoa Parish and is part of the Covey Rise Sportsman's Retreat. The farm started growing vegetables on 10 acres in 2009 and has expanded to over 60 acres at present. The farm not only grows multiple varieties of over 30 types of vegetables, but in recent years has added fruit trees and flowers. Our produce is enjoyed at various types of restaurants in New Orleans and surrounding areas, from the finest restaurants to quaint neighborhood cafes and everything in between and by our local produce/CSA members.
