Strawberries are back! With the cold weather we had to cover up our strawberries and they weren't ripening very fast, but now that the warm weather is back we are back into them and they are tasting great. We got our first set of tomatoes, peppers, and eggplant planted last week! Thank goodness we didn't have them planted before we got that last cold snap. We did lose one plot of squash & cucumbers that were very small. We tried our best and covered them but they were just too small to take the 27 degree temp I think. We have already pulled and replanted that plot as well, with hopes of no more freezing temps! I can't believe March is almost over already, it flew by for me.

About the farm
Covey Rise Farms is located in Husser, LA just north of New Orleans in central Tangipahoa Parish and is part of the Covey Rise Sportsman's Retreat. The farm started growing vegetables on 10 acres in 2009 and has expanded to over 60 acres at present. The farm not only grows multiple varieties of over 30 types of vegetables, but in recent years has added fruit trees and flowers. Our produce is enjoyed at various types of restaurants in New Orleans and surrounding areas, from the finest restaurants to quaint neighborhood cafes and everything in between and by our local produce/CSA members.
