We finally got some rain over the weekend, thank the Lord! Not sure if all of you heard but we had several fires that broke out last week very close to the farm. Talk about scary and keep me up at night! The forestry department (LDAF) did an outstanding job of monitoring from the air and controlling the fires with dozers on the ground. With this break in the heat and some rain in the forecast we are planting out our first of the season braising greens, which I hope can survive until it cools off. We will be getting broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage plants in this week I think, and hopefully getting them in the ground soon as well.

About the farm
Covey Rise Farms is located in Husser, LA just north of New Orleans in central Tangipahoa Parish and is part of the Covey Rise Sportsman's Retreat. The farm started growing vegetables on 10 acres in 2009 and has expanded to over 60 acres at present. The farm not only grows multiple varieties of over 30 types of vegetables, but in recent years has added fruit trees and flowers. Our produce is enjoyed at various types of restaurants in New Orleans and surrounding areas, from the finest restaurants to quaint neighborhood cafes and everything in between and by our local produce/CSA members.
