Just the type of weather we don't need, heavy thunder storms have been passing over the farm this morning and dropping waaaaaayyyyy too much rain. We had been missing the scatter showers for a few weeks and we needed a lil rain so we could work more fields, but its looking like its gonna be a very rainy week with too much rain. I know I have told everyone before but too much rain mixed with hot weather makes it very difficult to grow quality products in the field, that's farming for you though! We got some more okra planted last week and our 3rd planting of squash and cucs are in the ground as well, I am hoping we will see some tomatoes in the next 2 weeks, and possibly some eggplant before that. Peppers are blooming and setting fruit so they shouldn't be too far off either.

About the farm
Covey Rise Farms is located in Husser, LA just north of New Orleans in central Tangipahoa Parish and is part of the Covey Rise Sportsman's Retreat. The farm started growing vegetables on 10 acres in 2009 and has expanded to over 60 acres at present. The farm not only grows multiple varieties of over 30 types of vegetables, but in recent years has added fruit trees and flowers. Our produce is enjoyed at various types of restaurants in New Orleans and surrounding areas, from the finest restaurants to quaint neighborhood cafes and everything in between and by our local produce/CSA members.
