I have been patiently waiting on satsumas to start coming in season but they are taking there sweet time this year! Did you know that the sugar content is actually tested on satsuma's and they can't be sold until it reaches a certain level? Not sure when this rule or law came into play but that is what we have been waiting for this year, they always start out a bit tart and get sweeter as season goes on, but this year it seems like they are taking way longer than usual! Soon as they are ready we will be putting them in your boxes though. We do have some cooler weather coming later this week, grateful for that for sure and I think it should kick the satsumas into gear.

About the farm
Covey Rise Farms is located in Husser, LA just north of New Orleans in central Tangipahoa Parish and is part of the Covey Rise Sportsman's Retreat. The farm started growing vegetables on 10 acres in 2009 and has expanded to over 60 acres at present. The farm not only grows multiple varieties of over 30 types of vegetables, but in recent years has added fruit trees and flowers. Our produce is enjoyed at various types of restaurants in New Orleans and surrounding areas, from the finest restaurants to quaint neighborhood cafes and everything in between and by our local produce/CSA members.
