Growings On 10/10/20

Posted on October 10th, 2020 by Kirsten Simmons

We had two weeks of beautiful dry weather, leveled the spot for the shipping container at our new property, and it started pouring a half hour before the truck was supposed to show up.

*facepalm*

Gravel will show up Monday for the driveway, and then I'll get to spend Tuesday spreading gravel instead of moving strawberries, but c'est la vie. We're close to being off the old property. Roughly 3000 more strawberries left to dig up, the shipping container will move Wednesday, and then there's a couple loads of random crap that didn't fit anywhere else. Hopefully by Friday all I'll leave on that property is the soil organisms (as long as they last under mismanagement), the mint planted between the greenhouses and my farm name written in the concrete of the wash station.

Then there's just two truckloads of things to get from Wrecking Barn, one tractor trailer load of cardboard to spread at Springside, stepping stones to deliver and set out, 3000 yards of organic matter to bring in and spread, a fence to build and roughly 14,000 strawberries to plant.

I will come out of this stronger. I might need to sleep for a few months first.
