There may be four more weeks of the summer share, but I have some of the fall stuff ready to go so I'm going to start feeding it in! And let's be honest, it still feels like summer. It's taken two irrigation timers (the first one wasn't waterproof, wtf??) running on a 30 minutes on, 6 hours off cycle to get these seeds to germinate. And the carrots are still missing in action. But, we have a nice number of new greens this week so I'm excited to be expanding the variety in the shares.
Since the season ends in 4 weeks, it's time to talk auto-renew. If you're set up to auto-renew, it looks like we're going to run it on October 4th. This time, if you're set up on a payment plan you'll pay the first two weeks of the season on auto-renew, and then weekly afterwards. So the upfront cost shouldn't be nearly as much as it's been in the past. This is in preparation for a big change next year - I'm going to drop the seasons entirely and just run a weekly share from mid-February to mid-December. The seasons have always been a bit arbitrary, and this method should give folks a LOT more flexibility to make the share work for them. I'm also considering whether to move everything into the main share space - i.e., to make meats and other add-on items an option for all shares the way that anyone could have chosen a chicken last week. That would simplify my back end considerably, especially if I can wrangle the purchase of a whole cow and whole pig from Woodland Valley!
Have thoughts on this? Let me hear them!
