The ducks have discovered the duck pond! And if I ever figure out how to upload photos that are correctly oriented, there will be a picture because it's really adorable.
90% of the focus around the farm at the moment is getting seedlings and seeds into the ground - possibly followed by getting sweet potatoes out of the ground, because they're not going to dig themselves. Forget genetically modified for roundup resistance, if Monsanto created potatoes that would jump out of the ground when they're ready I would totally plant them!
But, until then I'm learning how to use the middle buster plow to dig sweet potatoes, and taking advantage of child labor, er, preschoolers who think it's a great game to search newly turned earth for sweet potatoes. :D
And I'm making slow but steady progress through the seedlings. Half the fall field is planted now, and I've picked up a new mini-plow to experiment with in hopes of making the process of planting into mulch a bit faster. With any luck we'll get some early turnips and greens before the end of this season, but most of what goes in the ground now won't be ready until the new year.
