Just one last reprieve before the Summer Fun begins! The Allen Street Farmers Market is outdoors on Wednesday, 3:00- 6:30, and I am at the Family Fare parking lot in Eaton Rapids at 12:00 noon before that. Thursday afternoon is still farm pick up. Saturday we move to JC Park on River Street in Grand Ledge for the first outdoor Farmers Market, 9:00-1:00, and CSA and online orders for pickup move over there! The East Lansing Farmers Market at Valley Court is on Sunday, June 2, 10:00-2:00.
Like most of our Vegetable Fare, we start everything in our nursery so I can control the chemical free integrity of our Produce. This includes Sweet Potatoes; we grow our own slips and as ready as they are to go into the ground, I will hold off until about Thursday when the overnight temperatures warm back up. The home gardener might also use caution on very sensitive crops like Cucumbers, Melons, and Basil. Next weekend will be a gardening free for all!
