Brussels are in this week! We always wait until after the first frost to harvest the brussels sprouts. After this week, they've been through not only frost, but a few hard freezes to boot. They're hardy down to about 15 degrees, so they did fine with the 23 degree lows that we had this week. It got a bit colder than we expected, but we were able to cover most of the frost-hardy but slightly more sensitive crops, like lettuce, fennel, and beets. Peppers and eggplants, of course, are now totally finished for the season.
A couple reminders:
Auto-renew is coming! Auto-renew is very helpful for us as we move into the winter, as we have many expenses over the winter for the following growing season, like potting soil, seeds, insect netting/row cover, and other miscellaneous expenses. If you'd like to continue getting fresh organically-grown vegetables throughout the season and support the work of MRF, renewing your share is the easiest way to do this!
All members who currently have HAVE IT ALL shares OR signed up for ALL THREE individual seasons this year will be eligible for auto-renew for 2022. This means that if you’ve enjoyed the share, you won’t have to worry about signing up again, and you’ll automatically have your share reserved for next season. The payment plan 25/25/50 will be in place, which means when the 2021 season is complete (the week before Thanksgiving) your card will be charged for 25% of the cost of your 2022 CSA share. 25% will then be charged at the beginning of the 2022 season, and the remaining 50% will be divided among the remaining weeks of the CSA season. **Be sure to check your card details on the “Payment Methods” tab of your account page to make sure they are correct.**
Here are the steps to TURN OFF Auto-Renew on your Harvie Account:
1. Go to your Dashboard
2. In the right hand corner, select “My Account”
3. Click on the Subscription bar on that page
4. Under “Manage Auto-Renew”, toggle OFF the auto-renew option.

& DON'T FORGET, it's time to sign up for the WINTER SHARE! You can do this by going to your Harvie account, clicking on 'My Farms' and then 'Place Order'. With the winter share, you'll be able to stock up on MRF vegetables, chicken and eggs, as well as your favorite local products like pastured meats, fruit, eggs, other veggies, milk/yogurt/cheese, ferments, and more! Eating local doesn't stop in the winter!!!!
