The Summer CSA resumes this week! We hope you had as lovely a CSA break as we did here. We were able to get some fall crops planted, lots of tomatoes picked, beds flipped, and we even managed to get away to Michael's family's lake house for a couple of days (thank you Kelly & crew)!
We also said goodbye to Carrie this week, as she heads to New York for college. Carrie has been with us since 2020 when we moved to the farm and watching her grow since then has been an honor and privilege. We are so incredibly proud of who she has become and we will miss her so much!
A couple highlights this week for the CSA...
We are in PEAK TOMATOES right now. Cherry & Paste Tomatoes are U-PICK this week! Come out to the farm and grab a few pints of cherries and paste tomatoes for sauce (NO CHARGE). Delivered shares will receive a bag of either cherries or paste tomatoes as a CSA bonus!
If you come to pick, we'll show you the best place to start when you're here. Bring a box/bags/containers to put your tomatoes in!
U PICK HOURS:
Monday - Saturday - 8 am - dusk
Sunday - 10 am - dusk
If you are planning to make sauce, freeze tomatoes, make a big batch of salsa, etc -- THIS IS THE WEEK!! We plan to have tomatoes for a couple more weeks at least, but you'll want to make plans for preserving now!
Sweet peppers are coming on in abundance, so we are offering a bulk box of sweet bells and Italian frying peppers. They're great for cutting and freezing (no blanching required) or making a roasted pepper sauce! It is delicious on pasta as an alternative to tomato sauce. We love having frozen peppers in the freezer for adding to soups, stews and chilis all winter long.
