Our first round of braising greens will be going into the ground soon! Rainbow Chard, collards greens, Kale, and mustard greens are the first varieties we will be planting, hopefully they can withstand the heat and hold up long enough for it to cool off, its always a challenge to keep this first round damp and cool so they don't shrivel up from the extreme heat. After these we will be getting some Broc/cabbage/cauliflower/brussels planted, and we also planted some more Long Island cheese pumpkins over the weekend. I hope everyone has enjoyed the low humidity days we had last week, the coolest morning we had at the farm was 70 degrees and just purely amazing, even though it didn't last very long.

About the farm
Covey Rise Farms is located in Husser, LA just north of New Orleans in central Tangipahoa Parish and is part of the Covey Rise Sportsman's Retreat. The farm started growing vegetables on 10 acres in 2009 and has expanded to over 60 acres at present. The farm not only grows multiple varieties of over 30 types of vegetables, but in recent years has added fruit trees and flowers. Our produce is enjoyed at various types of restaurants in New Orleans and surrounding areas, from the finest restaurants to quaint neighborhood cafes and everything in between and by our local produce/CSA members.
