Everything is finally moved! Including the 53 ft trailer load of cardboard that I noticed sitting in the Woodford Logistics parking lot. Since I'm planning on using cardboard as a base for building new soil at the new site, I made what was probably the oddest call the receptionist had gotten in a while: "Hi, I'm starting a farm about a mile from your location. I need a lot of cardboard, and I notice there's a 53 ft trailer load that's been sitting in your upper lot for the past several weeks. Can I have it?"
Let's just say that the folks at Woodford Logistics are going to be getting some strawberries in the spring :D
Now the focus shifts - over the next 3-4 weeks, I need to get as much organic matter as possible onto the new site and spread over the space. Roughly 3500 cubic yards of organic matter. It'll be a mix of wood chips, fill dirt, spent mushroom substrate, fall leaves and compost.
I'm also trying to arrange for some private loans to cover the rest of the installation. I think I have a decent amount lined up, but if you or anyone you know would be willing to loan the farm money to be repaid during strawberry season next year, please reach out.
