Welcome to the CSA season for 2021!!
I'm so happy to be here, writing this, because there were definitely moments in 2020 when I questioned whether I'd be able to keep farming. But thanks to all your support, we were able to find new property, clear it, put in fencing and rows, and today I harvested the first handful of strawberries! There's still work to be done, and I'm already planning expansions, but this promises to be a stable, permanent home for Ecosystem Farm.
Since our crops are still coming online, we'll be partnering with other farms for the next 6-8 weeks for most of our offerings. As always, I make it clear where products are from and over time you'll see the balance shift more and more to our own crops. I also make sure everything I source is organic or certified naturally grown - the only exception to that is in the fall and winter, when I offer apples grown using integrated pest management from Reese Orchards.
Starting out this season, we're not going to have meats - I had to tap into the funds I'd set aside for buying the next cow and pig, and while I was able to get a grant to cover that expense, it'll be several weeks before the processing dates for each.
Thank you again for your faith in me, for your support, and for coming along for the insane ride that was 2020 - here's to a much more stable 2021 and beyond!
