Summer is definitely here now! As all the heat-loving produce starts to roll in, we're hot and tired while prepping and planting for fall plants...but this is what we've worked all spring for, so it's full steam ahead now. I always remind myself that we can sleep in December when it's dark for most of the day! :)
The list has grown this week as we add some new items. Greens have dropped off and will be back as the weather cools down a bit - it's just too hot and dry to grow them successfully right now.
The new items:
Padron Peppers - use these like shishitos, they're mild (usually) and great pan-fried with coarse salt
Poblano Peppers - mild, dark green peppers great for stuffing or drying
Spaghetti Squash - use in place of pasta in countless recipes. my favorite is to bake the squash whole, and then when finished remove from skin and mix with pesto, sausage, fresh tomatoes, and lots of parmesan cheese
Compost Update:
The compost return has been going well and the contents have been great for compost. Keep up the great work! We've seen a few paper towels - these aren't ideal for our compost pile so please keep these out of your bucket.
Reminder! If you haven't set your preferences, please do that when you can! Harvie uses your preferences to build your box each week. You'll see the link to set your preferences on your Harvie dashboard.
