Farm Happenings for July 15, 2019

Posted on July 13th, 2019 by Tim Vrieselaar

The warmth has arrived!  We have been hitting close to or above 30 most days this week.  It means that 5:00 am is a very nice time of day to be working.  It's such a fresh, cool time of the day.  And in the heat of the day we have to cool off in the lake!

This summer has seen every crop be behind by a full month.  It has been amazing to watch (and nothing short of depressing:(  Hopefully things will start to respond to the heat and get growing.

I have just been told that the first potatoes can be dug already this week.  The spuds looks beautiful this year (maybe we will even get a picture taken in the potatoes once they are blooming nice)  But that will involve the impossible task of getting everyone into the garden at the same time - not an easy feat with 3 kids working off the farm and deliveries every day of the week...If it does get accomplished ...be sure I will share the photos with you;)

Save the plastics at Noble Gardens!!

Most of you have clued in already - but we are really trying our best to cut down on our plastic use.  Last year we went through way too many bags and this year we plan to change that.

PLEASE BRING AN EXTRA CONTAINER ALONG TO YOUR PICK UP FOR ALL THE LITTLE ITEMS> (the blueberry pots are a perfect pot to keep with your bags to bring along each week.  Items that will not be bagged - cherries, cherry tomatoes, peas, beans, potatoes, etc.  Basically as little plastic as we can is the route we are headed.

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP IN KEEPING OUR PLASTICS DOWN!!

And on another recycling matter - we accept all 1 dozen egg cartons - they are a perfect reusable product!
