Farm Happenings (#14 DELIVERY SUMMER out of 20)

Posted on August 24th, 2022 by Diane Riehm
Farmer Phil's TOP 5 from the field this week!

Two and a half (2 1/2) inches of rain and heavy winds over this past weekend was hard on some of our crops, especially the tomatoes. Tomatoes split when they get too much water. BUT...

* Harvesting PLENTY of other crops right NOW!

1. Lettuce - A new planting is ready to harvest.

2. Pinto gold Fingerling Potatoes - These are Farmer Phil's favorite type of potatoes! They are a gourmet specialty potato with outstanding flavor. You can boil or pan fry, but Phil says they are excellent roasted in a little bit of olive oil and salt.

3. Long Sweet PeppersThis is the season! Video 1:06

4. Sweet Corn - Leave husks on and place in an air tight container to retain freshness. Plastic bag with a twist tie works well.

5. Porterhouse Steaks - As for its flavor profile, this steak is considered one of the highest-quality cuts available, which means it requires little to deliver a delicious meal.

EAT with the season to grab the most NUTRITION!

Beef raised on Riehm's own 40 acres creek-bottom pasture and grain finished!

Recently, Farmer John took THREE steers to the butcher.

Did we mention the number 3...

Yes, three steers at once.

With that said, our freezers are now full and we encourage you to do some outside grilling while the weather is still nice using this fabulous beef?!
