Putting together the Harvie product options for future deliveries has many steps. Of course familiarity with what is growing in the field is on-ging with all tasks. Then on the day we produce a list, Liz takes a field walk and creates a list like the one shown in the photo. I compare that list with previous delivery quantities and with the storage quantities we might have in the cooler. We think about what is needed in farmstand, or only available in small quantities. I think about what crops we've been pushing, what crops have been under offered, and what I think looks extra good for eating RIGHT now! Then I list, publish, and hope that our predictions can be realized in 2-5 days. We get better at this equation all the time. And we thank you for your patience and understand when our guesses and figures, and the weather, and crew throw in unexpected scarcities.
This week we've got delicious choi and spinach back on the list. Tomatoes continue to gripe about the slow start to the season and refuse to ripen in quantity. New jam, tea, soup options as well.
Happy Eating,
Emily
