Farm Happenings for November 27, 2024

Posted on November 21st, 2024 by Emily Asmus

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

On the farm we are preparing Thanksgiving bags of fingerling potatoes and decorative pumpkins for all the 4th graders in Walla Walla School District. It's a fun way to share the bounty of this season and to say thank you to these 360 young people who both helped plant and harvest potatoes here at the farm this season on fieldtrips made possible by the Walla Walla Public School Foundation.

We also want to say a big thank you to each of you, are trusty CSA members. Thanks for being a backbone of farm support. Included in your box is a funny green and yellow pumpkin. These are pumpkins we grew for their hulless seeds, not for the flesh. Open them up, scoop out the seeds, roast with a little oil and salt, and enjoy. These "pepitas" are totally my favorite farm snack.

Following the Thanksgiving box, there will be two more shares in the season- 12/04 and 12/11.

Hopper's Custom Meats is a new butcher shop here in Walla Walla. We're super excited to began sending custom hogs to them for processing. Interested in a 1/2 or whole hog? Place a deposit online and I'll be in touch about dates.

Cheers, Emily
