The end of long and hospitable fall growing season is upon us. With the prediction of temps in the teens to look forward too for the entire work week, we were able to spend the time bringing in lots of food that will store well for you. The squash is all protected under cover. A few more bins of cabbage are moved into the rootcellar. The cooler is filled to the brim with another large harvest of cauliflower, kale, chard, choi, and head lettuce. Along with the roots already washed and tucked away, we're in good shape. Last items on the list are to drain and stack irrigation pipes and make sure all the tank heaters are working for the critter's water. I've got a squash baking in the oven, and I'm starting to dream of hearty stews and root roasts for upcoming dinners.
Winter luxury pie pumpkins are in your box offerings this week. They also carve up just fine if you're not ready for pie making (or need more entertainment for your cats). Offerings from Grateful Herb include Welcome Table Elderflower Infused Honey, Ela Black Tea, and Respiratory Tonic Herbal Infusion.
Warm kitchen wishes for all of you too, Emily
