Fall has officially arrived (or was that winter??) It's so cold out there that the gardens are all basically done for the season. And so we will quickly be moving into fall crops for the last few weeks of the summer season.
But that's fine - squash and carrots are great and the sooner the garden is empty - the sooner the pivot gets working!
WINTER SHARE REGISTRATION WILL BE OPEN IN A FEW SHORT DAYS - SO KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN!
The best news for this chilly day is the addition of fresh greens for fall and winter!
The greenhouse is located right in Nobleford - only 5 minutes away from the farm. FRESH FLAVOR FARM is going to supplying us with greens for the winter share. We will also be sending a taster your way this week as way of introduction. I can't even tell you for sure what he will all be giving to us this week - so we will just wait and see what comes. But we do know that he grows a bunch of different lettuces, some chard (that is as mild as lettuce!), kale, chives, basil and more.
These are pictures of his beds that Tim saw when he went to visit. It is beautiful to see such nice crops growing in such a clean and close environment. (we are a bit jealous because we would love to have this on our own farm - - maybe some day...)
It's the same idea as we trialed a few years ago - fish in the tank...feeding the plants....who are feeding the fish.... Such a beautiful cycle and we are really looking forward to working with Andy this winter to bring you fresh greens in the winter shares!
