Well, I think November has really arrived now. In preparation for that, we had one more, gigantic harvest last Thursday. It was epic. We were scrambling to find harvest bins for everything. What a great challenge to have in the middle of November in Grey Bruce. It has been a very good season. Thank1 read more »

What a week -- the weather has been warm and sunny. We are soaking up the sun for the winter ahead, while finishing last tasks in the field and harvesting. What a start to November! Snow and cold and then a sudden shift to warm and sunny. With the latter kind of weather, we may yet be harvesting and delivering for several weeks. We've got a really mix of weather this week -- sunny and warm to start and then cool and wet. There is even the suggestion of solid precipitation for later in the week. Yikes! Happy Thanksgiving! I hope that despite the challenges of this year, you are able to enjoy a good meal and celebrate the blessings in your life this coming weekend. While harvesting on Monday, I found this snake, curled up under a plant, waiting for the sun to warm things up. I consider this snake1 read more »

Week 16 -- Autumn is arriving

Posted on September 28th, 2020
After last week's warm and sunny weather, this week autumn has arrived in earnest! Which is also a bit of a relief. So long as the weather is pleasant, it's hard not to be out in the field, preparing for next season and tidying up from this one. This cooler and wetter weather is a great excuse to g1 read more »

Week 15 -- Autumn has arrived gloriously

Posted on September 22nd, 2020
Tuesday was the first day of autumn and the week has been lovely -- sunshine and warmth. After the frost on the weekend finished off the tomatoes, we have been able to spend this beautiful weather taking down the tomatoes. We remove the plants, then the twine trellis and finally the cedar stakes. A1 read more »
