Yes, I know. One more cauliflower photo. But his field has truly been the highlight of the fall. On Sunday at our HoeDown 20 kids participated in a cauliflower trophy hunting competition. The winning head weighed 6.5 pounds! This week students from Whitman College Environmental Studies harvested the 100s of pounds of cauliflower that will go to a lunch special in all 14 of the Spokane public schools next week. And you too get to eat it again. Roasted, riced, steamed, souped- it is so good.
For those of you who were able to make to the hoe down, thanks for coming out. It was lovely to share the farm and community and food and music and fire with you all.
As long as this weather keeps holding the food array will continue to be a broad selection of summer and fall foods. I am adding the first of the winter squash to the offerings- acorn squash this week.
Happy Eating,
Emiy
