Hopefully everyone stayed warm last week! It was a chiller!
Thanks to everyone for having their coolers ready for us! The hot water bottle was a lifesaver this week. We received our insulated liners and put them to the test....unfortunately...after only 2 hours we had frost on the lettuce. Granted the box was not packed with a full share ( I only put a few items in the bag). This week I will test it again and see how it goes. But for now...please continue with your coolers and water bottles to keep your veggies safe.
The cold and ice made for a trying week for us. Tim had a fender bender from the icy roads in Calgary. No one was hurt, and the van was still drivable because it was cold enough to not need the radiator...but it will need repairs before it goes back on the road. For as many miles as Farmer Tim drives each week all year round we are always thankful for a safe return at the end of the day. This year he has certainly seen some of the worse roads (especially around Christmas).
After a cold week (and an early start to the holiday week) we look forward to lots of time skating with the kids next week. Usually our February break is spent with family in BC ....but this year that again has to be put on hold. I don't know about all of you...but I am certainly eager for life to return to normal. We miss our family and the kids miss their cousins. Hopefully Spring will bring better days!
On the Spring note....all our seed it on it's way...time to start thinking about planting again for the 2021 Summer season~~ I am sure I am not alone in the "waiting for Spring" feeling....but we will enjoy the nice winter weather while it lasts.
Enjoy your weekend!
ps..the meat order form will come out a bit later today...we are waiting for another batch of beef to arrive first.
