Hey folks! We hope you thoroughly enjoyed all the goodies in the first box. While May production can be a little slow at first, it sure has ramped up and the veggie crew is working hard! One thing I am particularly excited to see is the all the flowers blooming. In just a few short weeks we will be offering big diverse beautiful bouquets as an extra item to brighten up your home. For now, check out our mini bouquet in the extras section. Note: some folks who ONLY have a veggie share sometimes have difficulty adding extra items. Harvie is working on this so hold tight!
Extras this week:
- Flowers- Grown right here are the farm! We are starting the season off with these gorgeous mini bouquets.
- Eggs- That's right! We have 20 dozen pastured raised eggs for you this week from Villa Acres
- Dairy- Mozzarella, Feta, Raw Milk, and Yogurt, also from Villa Acres
- Micro Greens- Harvested daily from the hydroponic farm Greener Roots
- Bread- Sourdough, Baguettes, Ciabatta, and Cranberry Pecan Sourdough from Lillian St. Bread. We pick this bread up freshly baked on Tuesday morning. It might even be warm when you get it!
- Honey- Sourwood, Light, and Dark Wildflower honey from TN Artisan Honey
- Mushrooms- Lions Mane and Oysters locally grown from Henonis Mushrooms
What's in the box: Remember, farming is dynamic and sometimes it doesn't go completely as planned. While this is our best guess of what will be in the box, sometimes we have to sub things based on availability.
- Baby Greens
- Baby Carrots- Okay maybe it's a little too hot for soup but check out the Carrot Top Pesto part of this recipe. Hint: Add some basil!
- Basil
- Cilantro
- Lettuce
- Fennel- We couldn't choose just one so check out all of these delicious fennel recipes from Love and Olive Oil.
- Dill
- Italian Greens- You may find some escarole and/or frisee in your box this week.
- Collards
- Cima di Rapa- Rapini, broccoli rabe, brassica shoots... what's the difference? I'm not sure but here is an easy way to prepare it with some sausage.
