Welcome to all of our new Meat CSA members! This is the first week of our Winter Meat CSA and we are excited to provide you all with grass fed beef, pork and lamb this winter.
For our Veggie members, this week will be the last delivery of our Summer Veggie CSA share. If you haven't signed up for our Winter Veggie share, there is still some space! Sign up here.
This week is radish week on the farm. We have harvested bins and bins of beautiful, crispy radishes that we will be sending to you throughout the season. We also have plenty of fall greens to last all winter long, with kale, collards and spinach finally ready for your enjoyment. Cooking greens are so lovely because they can be incorporated into just about any dish to add that punch of nutrients and flavor.
We have officially completed our 2020 chestnut harvest. It was a great year, and we have LOTS of nuts available for purchase. Add them on to your CSA share and we will send them with your next delivery. We are also offering free shipping now through Thanksgiving if you would like to ship chestnuts to a friend or relative for the holidays (5 lb minimum for receive the offer)! They make a great gift because they can last for months if stored properly.
We also still have plenty of ginger and turmeric available. We'll send a little sample of turmeric in our veggie boxes this week so you can get a taste. We love to use these medicinal roots for cooking and tea. Here is a link to a Golden Milk Recipe that uses turmeric and is absolutely delicious.
On the livestock front, we recently took 22 pigs to the slaughterhouse and now have a very stocked freezer. The pigs spent their last few weeks enjoying tons and tons of chestnuts that didn't make the cut for our customers. This pork will supply our 100 member Meat CSA through fall 2021 and we are grateful.
