Lots of picking is beginning to happen in all of our hoop houses. We have a massive harvest of cucumbers this week, so we will have a lot at market and will be putting even more into our estimate for your boxes next week. We expect cherry tomatoes and slicer tomatoes to continue to increase, though they will be slightly slowed down if we continue to have super smoky skies. We're also picking jalapenos and aren't far from our first harvests of other types of peppers (bells & poblanos). At our home plot, we'll be harvesting the first big bunches of basil out of our hoop tomorrow.
The rain shower that we had today was very welcome, it could have lasted longer and it sure could have come with less thunder, but I guess beggars can't be choosers, eh? We have a curing area all set up for our garlic, and hope to begin that harvest tomorrow. We have somewhere in the neighborhood of 2500 bulbs this season, which is our most yet, but somehow we always decide we want more the next year...and the next year! So expect to see garlic appearing in your boxes soon.
We look forward to seeing you at your pick ups this week! Cheers, Rudy & Bonnie
