Wow - week #17 is here and that means for some of you, it's your last week of the season! Hard to believe it because the season has flown by so quickly, but our minds and muscles are definitely telling us that we're getting towards the tail end. Though we're starting to be in wrap up mode for the season, there's still a lot of farming to do before winter break. We'll be continuing the Farmers Market at Libby until it's end September 30th, we'll be at the Kootenai Harvest Festival Sept. 18th, and we may continue some Farm Stand boxes beyond the CSA season too. We continue to plant out transplants and direct seed (though it'll be under hoop houses now), microgreen seeding, and lots and lots of harvesting.
These last two weeks are great ones to really customize your boxes to what you'd like. Stock up on some 'keeper' vegetables like onions, potatoes, garlic and winter squash. Fresh herbs aren't quite 'keepers' but they will last quite awhile and add spice to meals for at least a month. Also, don't forget to take advantage of the extras with the other great local producers that we partner with.
* Bread & Bagels from the Gracious Table
* Beautiful bouquets from Dragon's Breath Farm
* Farm Fresh eggs from the Miller Farm
* Honey from McLaury Apiaries
* And our own bulk stores of certain crops. This week we'll have some 10# bags of potatoes and onions and 1# increments of garlic.
We may be nearing the end of the season, but please still contact us with any questions or comments about how your CSA share works, details about Harvie, or just questions about the farm!
Cheers, Bonnie & Rudy
