Yay! Our cooler cover is complete, and we're listening to the sounds of thunder right now, so it's not a moment too soon. Our new cooler is not meant to be out in the weather, so since constructing it, each time it rained, we'd end up with a bunch of water inside. It was quite frankly stressing us out, so we made a push today for Rudy to single-mindedly focus on the roofing project. And it worked out great, because the rest of the crew did all of the bed prep, planting, and even some harvesting and tomato pruning to fill in - nice job guys! The cooler cover was the last project on the 'Pre-Season Projects' list (ok, not really the last, but the last one that is mandatory!!), so we're feeling a real load off now that it's done and we can focus on simply 'The Season' projects which include: planting, harvesting, wash/packing, and distributing, and not really much else...other than weeding!
Growth on the farm was set back by the cold snap last week, so crops like zucchini and cherry tomatoes have slowed down, but we expect them to rally in the next week or so as we welcome in legit summer temperatures! Lots of great produce available this week as well as lots of great add-ons from other local producers. This week, we've got:
- Bread and Bagels from the Gracious Table
- Farm Fresh eggs from the Miller Farm
- Bacon, breakfast sausage, and hot Italian sausage from Double N Farms
- Honey from McLaury Apiaries
- and even some bulk beets for canning from yours truly!
Get in and customize (or order a Farm Stand box) by noon on Monday.
Cheers, Bonnie & Rudy
