Hans found the heart-shaped beet above this week while harvesting, and we couldn't resist getting a little bit punny with it. We're having a CSA member appreciation day on Friday afternoon, 1-5, to celebrate you guys, the Heartbeet of the farm! Seriously though, we did start out 7 years ago with CSA as our prime focus, and though we only had five members that first year, we still found it overwhelming at times, lol. This year, we have closer to 150 members, with additional Farm Stand boxes each week, and though we still sometimes find it overwhelming, it is an incredibly important part of our farm. So if you're able, consider coming out to the farm on Friday. We'll have farmers on hand for any questions, lots of great 'keeper' produce that you get first dibbs on, a self-guided tour sheet, pumpkins and a photo spot for kiddos (or kids at heart) (limited # of pumpkins!), and a complimentary flower bouquet to say 'THANK YOU' for being a part of our farm!
If you'd like to change your pick up spot from the market to farm this week (and haven't already) please let us know before 9am tomorrow so we can load the truck correctly for market - via email (info@hootowlfarm.net) or text (406-318-5339).
We look forward to seeing you all at pick up this week!
Cheers, Rudy & Bonnie
PS. We wanted to include a recipe idea since many of you have Rainbow Carrots in your box this week. There are many great ways to have them, but with the cooler temps lately, Roasted Rainbow Carrots seem especially appropriate -- can you discern the flavor variety in the different colors?
