A short and sweet update on the farm today since we're STILL at it on Friday night preparing for the Harvest Festival tomorrow (at Riverfront Park 12-6 if you're so inclined). We're about ready and will have a respectable showing at the festival with a full display of storage crops like potatoes, onions, garlic, and winter squash. Along with some other staple root crops and even some sweet surprises! Speaking of sweet surprises, the sunflower pictured above sure was one. We didn't even plant sunflowers, but we figure either the wind or a tricky chipmunk must have scattered one of our sunflower shoot microgreen seeds out into the flower bed where it thrived and bloomed just in time for the Harvest Festival!
Even if you're not able to make the Harvest Festival, it's still time to pick out some produce for next week. Grab a Farm Stand box until Monday at noon for pick up next week! We have lots of wonderful crops still available...we haven't had a frost yet, but it seems like we might get one early next week...so enjoy those summer favorites while they last. We've also got farm fresh eggs from the Miller Farm, delicious breads and bagels from the Gracious Table, and super sweet honey from McLaury Apiaries. We have some bulk items from our farm including potatoes (Yukon Gem, Adirondack Blue, and Norland Red), onions (Patterson), and garlic.
