And just like that...it's melon season. Just as with many crops this year, melons showed up earlier than expected by a couple of weeks. That means that there are NO melons in the CSA boxes this week, but there will be some at market tomorrow. Remember, that if you'd like to purchase anything additional from the market at pickup, just ask Rudy at the pick up table and he will grab what you'd like -- as we like to remind you guys, you're VIPs after all! We will do a very discerning harvest walk on Friday to try to assess how many melons we can expect next week, and we'll put as many as we dare into the Harvie estimate for next week.
The next couple of months are by far the busiest ones on our farm generally. The phrase, 'make hay while the sun shines' definitely couldn't describe the late-summer/early-fall on a small farm any better. While our farm is at maximum production, customers are also at a maximum as people are looking to enjoy summer's bounty and also do some canning or preserving too. So we'll be doing our very best to make sure that we put as much of the produce that we grow into the hands of someone that is looking for it, and hustling while we do it!
See you all at pick up this week! We're expecting a great market turn out tomorrow as it's high-summertime and it's also a 'Christmas in July' themed market!
Cheers, Rudy & Bonnie
