Pic above is a particularly good pre-market crew lunch. Good lunches depend on how full the cutting board is, and when there fresh melon, tomato, cucumber, and peppers then it's always a tasty lunch. We work very hard on the farm, and many times feel aches and pains due to the farm even when we're away, but we've got one fantastic thing that most other workplaces don't - delicious and totally fresh lunch ingredients! Let it be known however, that we do often enjoy the still tasty, but unsellable blemished produce. Last week is a good example when we shared a melon with a squirrel... We're not totally sure it was a squirrel, but the tiny teeth marks on the back side of the melon told us that someone had enjoyed it already, so we just kept the other half for ourselves, lol.
Harvesting continues to be our biggest task of the week. We've had the largest tomato and cherry tomato harvest yet, and have about half of our potatoes out of the ground, we're eyeing the winter squash and gathering up determination to enter that jungle maybe next week!
A heads up...we had anticipated being rather short on salad mix this week, so you may not have found any available in Harvie. However, we were not short at all, so there is plenty available for purchase at the market. See you at your pick up location this week!
Cheers, Rudy & Bonnie
