A short and sweet farm update today. The short is because we're just now wrapping up tasks at the farm on a Friday and we're ready to start the weekend! And sweet because the task that we've just about wrapped up is the first stage of propagating our strawberries. We started with a few rows of strawberries this Spring with the intent to propagate them to more area this fall for a hopefully legit strawberry harvest next Spring. We've settled on a system that includes cutting a bunch of strawberry runners and propagating them in cell trays for planting out in about a month to another area of the farm. So today, we set up a 'strawberry bench' for all of the seedling trays and have it programmed to water often and evenly so that they'll be more likely to take root in their vulnerable state (with no roots yet!). So have a great weekend, but first...
Be sure to get into your Harvie profile to customize your box for next week (or to purchase a one-time Farm Stand box), or don't! Some people love the surprise of finding out what they get when they pick up. This week, we have lots of great items from other local producers, including:
- Bagels from The Gracious Table
- Farm Fresh Eggs from the Miller Farm
- Honey from McLaury Apiaries
- Fresh Pressed Apple Cider AND Apple Butter, from Farm to Market Store, both of these products are made right here in Libby!
- Locally Raised hot Italian sausage, pork sausage, breakfast sausage and pork chops from Double N Farms
- Beautiful gladiolus and dahlia bouquets from yours truly!
Cheers, Rudy & Bonnie
