It's peak melon season RIGHT NOW! We're harvesting melons from all three of our melon blocks, so we're pretty darn certain that this week will be the biggest harvest of melons of the season. As a result, we're trying to move a lot of melons tomorrow. The special deal is 'buy three, get one free!', so if you didn't grab a melon in your box (or heck, if you'd just like more!), then be sure to grab some tomorrow, because after this week we expect melons to gradually become more scarce. Truth be told, we'll be a little bit relieved when the melons become more scarce, because we're currently experiencing an overload of large bulky produce. We'll be starting to have more and more winter squash to deal with, so we'll be happy to stop doing double duty with the melons as well!
We've really enjoyed the cooler temperatures this week. Routine jobs on the farm were noticeably more pleasant without the sweltering heat of last week. Speaking of last week, we did have one failure that many of you will likely notice... As we've mentioned before, we seed microgreens weekly, so the batch that your getting this week was seeded in that extreme heat. Anyway, you'll notice that the Rainbow Mix is pretty much just green this week as we TOTALLY FORGOT to seed the radish microgreens that typically go along with it. Not only did we forget, we also failed to notice that we'd forgotten until harvest time. Needless to say, the heat DID get to us. At times like these, we just need to remember that green is in fact a color in the rainbow, lol.
We look forward to seeing you at pick up this week!
Cheers, Bonnie & Rudy
