CSA Week #17 - Customize

Posted on September 11th, 2024 by Bonnie and Rudy Geber

We're in the midst of our CSA Member Appreciation Day right now, so it'll be a short and sweet farm update. Crops are growing well, and the hot weather is tricking us into believing summer will last forever, so I'm sure we're in for a rude awakening any day! This year feels different than most in that many of our fall crops are late. Typically things like winter squash and big bags of onions and potatoes are available for the last several weeks of the CSA, but here we are in week #17 (it only goes to #18!) and those things are only just starting to become available. But rest assured, they are still going to be available, just a bit later than usual. After the CSA season is wrapped up, we will make sure to share any pop-up farm stands or ordering opportunities with you!

Thank you to everyone who came out to visit the farm today! There will be another opportunity on October 3rd - the first Thursday after the Farmers Market ends.

It's time to get into your profile and customize (if you wish) your box for next week. In addition to the vegetables in our harvest estimate this week, we've got lots of great add-ons from other local producers.

Speaking of add-ons, we have some excellent local producers with great products to add or swap into your boxes. This week, we have:

- Artisan sourdough bread by Rachel at Pine Cabin Co.

- Farm Fresh eggs from the Miller Farm

- Pork from Double N Farms - ground pork, breakfast sausage and hot Italian sausage!

- Fresh pressed apple cider and apple butter from Farm to Market Store

- Honey from McLaury Apiaries

- No flowers this week as we're saving up for the Kootenai Harvest Festival on September 14th!

For some of you, on an every other week schedule, this could be your last share week. So we'd like to say a very special THANK YOU for being a CSA member this season!

Cheers, Bonnie & Rudy
