The stand out crop of this week is definitely peppers, so who better to greet you than Barry, King Pepper himself! In advance of cold temps, we've harvested all of our peppers (bells, poblanos, jalapenos, cayennes, and habaneros), so we have quite the pepper plethora for your boxes as well as for our pop-up produce stand tomorrow at the Antlers parking lot, 3-5:30. For those wanting to celebrate the pepper bounty, we've got them packaged up and prices marked down. Ideas for pepper-centric recipes include: stuffed bell peppers, chili rellenos, chili relleno casserole (an easier version of the classic), jalapeno poppers, fajitas or slow-cooker chicken fajitas, roasted pepper soup, Ratatouille, Shakshuka...
Other than harvesting, we've been busy this week with demo and prepping beds for their winter rest. This involves a lot of compost moving and spreading, generally some form of covering (plastic tarp, straw mulch, cover crop), as well as plenty of crop debris clean up from this season. Tomorrow will be a big task to accomplish with our plans to plant our garlic crop for next year (that means we'll likely have some seed garlic to spare if anyone is still looking!).
We look forward to seeing you at pick up this week!
Cheers, Bonnie & Rudy
