We had such a fun time at our Stock-Up Sale and Pumpkin-Palooza yesterday - thank you to everyone who came out! We estimate that between 150-200 pumpkins left the farm yesterday, so we were a little bit surprised this morning to see SO MANY pumpkins still remaining when we did our harvest estimate walk. So, we've decided to open the farm tomorrow as well, Saturday 12-5. It won't be quite the production that it was yesterday, but there will be plenty of pumpkins to choose from, plenty of organic produce to stock up on, and still plenty of complimentary refreshments (fresh pressed apple cider and pumpkin coffee!).
Next week, we're looking forward to more progress on Fall field prep, hopefully getting the garlic blocks into good planting shape. We'll also be starting to 'crack' our garlic which is opening up each head and splitting apart the cloves in preparation for planting in mid-October. We plant enough garlic, that we've learned to do the cracking as a separate task so that we have enough time to complete the actual planting as a separate task later.
Many crops have succumbed to the light, but consistent frosts that we've started having, but there is still A LOT of great fall produce to be had - enjoy it while it's here! Have a great weekend!
Cheers, Rudy & Bonnie
