Summer has definitely arrived! Temperatures and sun are keeping us under shade hats, heading to the creek, and doing as much as we can in the early morning and late evening. The cool weather crops, like asparagus, rhubarb, arugula, and salad turnips are waning, and will bow out until the Autumn, while the heat lovers; cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, and zucchini are starting to really take off. This transition means that while we have lots and lots of produce, the quantities of individual items are limited, as some wane and some wax. In the shares, this means that not everyone will get tomatoes this week, and not everyone will get cucumbers, but soon everyone will get each of these items, and there will be (we hope) a surplus of these items to purchase extras as well. Meanwhile, enjoy the last veggies of spring, and a few of the beginnings of summer, and may you find a cool body of water to wade in as the temperatures soar.
