Quick note: Grapes are not fruit share this week (it's watermelon), so if you'd like some grapes, they are available in the extras tab!
September has arrived! This is the month when we know the end of the heat is near, and it is a blessed month. We still have tomatoes, peppers, eggplant (smaller quantities, but still there), and the fall greens and roots are taking off, racing to maturity before the frost starts in October. It's really a magical month for us. Most mornings start with a jacket, while afternoons are still shorts and t-shirts, and the mood is decidedly lighter than August (which can be a bit trying). We are excited that so many of you are staying with us for the extended season, and the fall crops are looking great. Meanwhile, we are also still planting lots of seeds and transplants for fall and winter, and starting to do repairs and construction to prepare our greenhouses for winter. Next week my family is taking off for an end of summer vacation; heading to the Salmon River in Idaho, for a seven day river trip. We've been looking forward to it for months, and it feels like a great way to cap a hot but excellent summer. Meanwhile, Kimby and the rest of the amazing crew will be keeping the harvest happening, tending the plants, and generally being awesome. It's a wonderful gift to be part of such a talented, passionate team, and I'm grateful every day.
I hope you get to enjoy September as much as we do, and as always, thank you for trusting us to be your farmers.
