We're winning the battle with weeds this week! Every spring (officially until the 21st of June), the weeds tend to get ahead of us in a few areas, due to a combination of more energy going into crop establishment (planting tomatoes, seeding beans, etc...) rather than weed control, and often wet conditions which limit how much time we can spend in the field, like this spring. But then the plants are mostly in, the weather dries, and we're able to devote time to cleaning up the fields. It's very satisfying, and allows us to walk the fields with pride at the beautiful order derived from the chaos. This week was the catch-up week, with lots of weeding, irrigation repairs, and ongoing harvest. We have beat the weeds back to the edges of the fields, mowed the tall grass at the borders of the gardens, and added mulch to pathways in many places. The garden is put in order, and ready to come into it's time of maximum production; the bountiful days of July and August, with tons of tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, and other treats being harvested everyday. This week the tomatoes are still ramping up, but we're quickly approaching abundance there. Overall, even with the heat predicted, and the dry conditions, it's a joy to garden in the Ozarks, and we love growing food and flowers for you all.
Thank you for trusting us to grow and source the food for your table.
